Black Country pub company Marston's has started work on its new head office building.
The firm announced last summer that it planned to convert the 1970s office block St John's House in Wolverhampton to create a new home for its 250 employees.
Cardiff-based construction contractor Carter Lauren was awarded the tender last year and is now on site repurposing the majority of existing office layout.
The new-look HQ will have a new stairwell, reception area, open-plan offices, meeting rooms, courtyard garden and training floor with a full-scale pub kitchen.
It is hoped employees will start working from the new base early next year, moving from the current head office in nearby Brewery Road.
Marton's said remaining in Wolverhampton was a key decision throughout the process of finding a new head office as its forefather, Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries, was founded in the city in 1834.
Head of property Andy Kershaw said: "A lot of the groundwork for this scheme was completed throughout lockdown so to actually now see our construction team on site is really bringing it to life for us.
"We have got some pretty special plans for the offices which we are keeping under lock and key for the moment and we look forward to revealing further plans soon."
City of Wolverhampton Council deputy leader Cllr Stephen Simkins added: "Marston's remains one of the city's major employers and a brand that puts Wolverhampton on the map globally.
"I am delighted they have started work on the refurbishment of St John's House. It shows a real commitment to our city.
"It will not only bring back to life this vacant office building but will also provide job opportunities for our citizens and deliver a major boost to the local economy."
Marston's operates an estate of approximately 1,500 pubs in the UK across a range of agreements including managed and leased, employing around 11,000 staff.
It also owns a 40 per cent stake in Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company, a new brewery joint venture formed in 2020 with the UK arm of Danish giant Carlsberg, with staff from this part of the group also to be based in St John's House.
