Work progresses on brand new Stoke-on-Trent warehouse for growing mobile phone distributor

Work is progressing on a brand new warehouse for growing mobile phone distributor Eurostar Global Electronics (EGE).

The firm has chosen Carson Powell Construction to undertake the internal fit-out of its new 43,000 sq ft facility which has been constructed at St Modwen Park Stoke Central on Festival Park.

Eurostar, which is currently based on Lymedale Business Park in Newcastle-under-Lyme, says the move is another 'significant step' in the company's growth, building on its ambition to expand its mobile distribution business and open up new channels and markets.

Peter Carnall, managing director at Eurostar Global, said: "Since we concluded the deal for our new distribution and logistics centre with St Modwen last year, there has been a significant design process that, due to the impact of Covid-19 on the construction sector, has extended the time taken to find the right company to complete the warehouse fit out. It has also been important to select a partner with the right approach and skill set, to undertake this key project that will critically support the future growth of the business.

"It's great to have Carson Powell on board as they are a local business with a good reputation. They have responded to all the needs of the business throughout the tender process and have the experience required to complete this complex and challenging project.

"We're really excited about starting the project, and working with them to complete our transition later this year into what will be the foundation for growth throughout the next five years."

Brett Watmough, sales and purchasing director at EGE, added: "The last two years have enabled us to look at our core business and work out where the key opportunities are.

"It also helped us to continue developing the business profitability to help fund growth and expansion and why we're now embarking on the development of our new warehouse.

"Our new facility will support the development of new opportunities and relationships with vendors, retailers and resellers, all of which will continue to be supported by our outstanding account management team.

"We can't wait to get into the new building as it will be a fantastic new working environment that represents a springboard to the next phase of growth for EGE."

Work on the fit-out has now started and will take up to 16 weeks to complete. The project includes the installation of a state-of-the-art security system, multi-tier warehousing facilities and specialist mobile device handling stations.

Rob Longman, director at Stoke-based Carson Powell, said: "We're really pleased to be selected for this project with Eurostar Global Electronics.

"It's a great opportunity to be working with a local company that's got growth aspirations and is expanding. To be part of this development, and to help support the aspirations of both Peter and Brett in building a first-class warehouse and distribution facility, is really exciting and we're delighted to be involved in the development."
