Work on giant B&M shop progressing as walls come down to make huge superstore

Work on a giant B&M superstore is progressing with workers currently ripping out former shopping units.

Ayrshire Live previously revealed that B&M has been lined up to take charge of three units in the town's Glencairn Retail Park.

Blueprints were previously approved to combine the three shops to make one giant store.

And shop fitters appear to have taken down the walls that separated the trio of shops and the interiors of the previous stores have been ripped out too.

Poundstretcher was the only occupied unit with both Brantano Footwear and DW Sport already closed.

But Poundstretcher was closed earlier this year and work is now underway to form what could be one of the town's biggest shops.

Heras-style fencing has been erected around the three units for more than a month now with work on the behemoth outlet gathering pace.

Poundstretcher did open a town centre store in Fowlds Street in April last year. Bosses at the discount chain assured customers at the time that the Glencairn Retail Park store wouldn't close.

B&M already have a sizeable store in Kilmarnock at Queen's Drive Retail Park.
