Work has begun on a housing development in Shaftesbury which will create 162 homes in the Dorset market town.
Housebuilder David Wilson Homes has started laying roads and infrastructure at the site of the project, called Niveus Walk, with the building of home foundations to follow.
When complete the development, situated off Wincombe Lane around one mile from the town centre and close to Wincombe Business Park, will comprise a mix of two to and four-bedroom properties.
A total of 48 of the 162 homes will be made available as affordable housing - 24 for affordable rent, 17 for discount market sale and seven for shared ownership.
Tammy Bishop, sales director of David Wilson Homes’ Southampton Division, said: “We’re very excited to see work progressing here. I’m really looking forward to seeing the development take shape over the coming months.
“Niveus Walk offers countryside living but with easy access to local amenities, and when we release the first set of homes here, I’m expecting a high demand from buyers in the area.”
Prospective buyers will be able to secure a property off-plan at Niveus Walk from May.
