Works have commenced on building 48 affordable units in Cardiff. Developers Jehu Group announced on Twitter that work had begun on the development on City Road, which will consist of 48 affordable units and two commercial units as part of a £9 million scheme in partnership with Linc Cymru.
The plans, submitted by Linc Cymru Housing Association, were given the green light in August 2020. The development will be built on a brownfield site at 48-54 City Road, consisting of two apartment blocks with 48 one-bedroom properties.
The site was once home to Rileys Snooker Club and later a discount furniture warehouse which was destroyed in a fire in April 2016 and later demolished. The development, referred to as 'Cascade Tower' by the Jehu Group, includes two types of one-bed flats to cater for both couples and single people.
