Word of the Day: ‘Pandemonium’ meaning, pronunciation, history and examples of its use

Today’s Word of the Day is “pandemonium,” a noun used to describe a situation filled with extreme noise, confusion and disorder. The word is often used when many people are shouting, moving around or reacting at the same time, creating a chaotic scene that becomes difficult to control.

For example, when a stadium crowd erupts after a dramatic victory, a school corridor becomes chaotic after an unexpected announcement, or passengers rush around during a major delay, the scene may be described as pandemonium.
