One person was taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a shop in Woolwich.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled the huge blaze in the three-storey building on Woolwich New Road at around 5.25am on Sunday.
The ground floor shop was left damaged after the fire ripped through parts of the building.
Two adults and two children were rescued by firefighters via a nine-metre ladder. Five adults and two children were led to safety via an internal staircase.
Four people left the building before firefighters arrived.
One person was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
