Wood vs Warrington 2 LIVE: Boxing fight stream, latest updates and undercard results

Battle: Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington - (Nick Potts/PA Wire)

Wood vs Warrington 2 LIVE!

Leigh Wood takes on Josh Warrington in a huge rematch this evening at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. The British pair fought back in October 2023 in the featherweight division, with Wood retaining his WBA featherweight title in Sheffield that night. He vacated the belt shortly after, in a bid to become the IBO super-featherweight champion.

He followed in the footsteps of tonight’s opponent, Warrington, in trying to take down the reigning champion Anthony Cacace, who first defeated Warrington before he swatted Wood aside by TKO. Wood had knocked out Warrington at the Sheffield Arena in 2023, down on all three judges’ scorecards before landing a right hook that felled the ‘Leeds Warrior’. Warrington beat the referee’s count, but saw the contest waved off in the seventh, controversially and to his horror.

Now, he finally has a chance to exact his revenge on a fierce rival, but there will be no belt on the line this time, just bragging rights. Stay up to date with all the latest from Nottingham with our live blog below.

Warrington's post-fight interview

23:29 , Oli Gent

"It's my fifth defeat. Before I'd come into here, I'd be beaten four times and they [fans] back me through thick and thin. They are the best supporters in the world and they follow their own through thick and thin.

"I'm not going to make a decision. I've only been down here a week, I miss my kids immensely. I'm not going to make no rash decisions. With that being said, I can't keep coming out here - when people are spending their hard earned money - and not giving it it absolutely everything. I tried my best. I wanted it bad. I wanted it so bad.

"I've been obsessed with Leigh for the last 14 weeks, I've trained immensely. I've worked so hard in in the gym and in sparring. I couldn't do anymore. My head has been a bit all over the place. When I came in here tonight, I was thinking about it a little bit too much and you can't do that in the sport of boxing you certainly can't do that against people like Leigh Wood."

Wood's post-fight interview

23:29 , Oli Gent

"My body felt good,” he said.

“Mentally, I felt good. Physically, I felt good. Little bit more nervous going in because I've had a long time out the ring but...I know what you're hinting at.

"I'm not too sure yet. I'm not going to make a decision on the spot. But what a fight to finish on if it is the last one."

“If it's the right person, [a fight at the City Ground] is something I'd probably struggle to turn down. The main thing tonight was to inspire the next generation. I was up in these stands watching Carl Froch and it inspired me. I looked round and thought one day I want to sell out this place.

"Hopefully there are other fighters that feel the same way. If I've inspired one or two fighters, I've done the job I wanted to do."

Wood post-fight

23:11 , Oli Gent

No retirement chat from either

23:06 , Oli Gent

Neither Wood nor Warrington speaks about potential retirement from the sport. Will we see either of them again?

Wood by unanimous decision!

22:56 , Oli Gent

A landslide victory for the home favourite!

Wood vs Warrington: Round 12

22:52 , Oli Gent

A bit more aggression in the final round from Wood, going for the body with some vicious jabs. His movement has frustrated Warrington, kept him at distance, popping up him upstairs and down. And that’s it!

Wood vs Warrington: Round 11

22:48 , Oli Gent

Warrington is still trying to walk Wood down, but he just can’t find the target, which is constantly on the move. Wood in complete control going into the final round.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 10

22:44 , Oli Gent

Wood’s low hands are really helping him tie Warrington up. Every time the shorter fighter jumps in, Wood can easily just wrap his arms around him and stop him throwing at close range. Again, he’s doing well to keep him at range, using his experience, to pop and pick his moments.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 9

22:41 , Oli Gent

The rounds - and the fight - are getting away from Warrington. He’s getting pieced up here. Wood is smiling to himself on the stool. His coach is telling him to keep proactive. He’s executing that gameplan perfectly.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 8

22:36 , Oli Gent

Wood is showing great spatial awareness, especially when fighting off the back foot. He knows exactly where the ropes are, and he’s not letting his back touch them as he retreats. More jabs, more combos, and making his opponent miss.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 7

22:33 , Oli Gent

Another round goes by and Wood is looking better and better. Warrington needs to sharpen up, with Wood picking his moments, and his opponent apart.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 6

22:28 , Oli Gent

Wood has a cut on his right eye, and there’s one on the bridge of Warrington’s nose. Wood lands a nice right hook upstairs to round off a decent combination. There’s a confidence and assured look about Wood here. He’s in front at halfway.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 5

22:24 , Oli Gent

Good work from Wood with the right hook stunning Warrington. A right hand lands from Warrington in response. There’s blood from the nose of Warrington, who pushes Wood back onto the ropes but cannot make any further ground. A tight round.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 4

22:20 , Oli Gent

Warrington is telegraphing his attacks, which means that Wood can fend them off with relative ease. That said, the left hook gets through against the ropes. Wood’s hands are very low, and he’s flicking in those left hooks so far. A great uppercut from Wood to end the round, which could edge that in his favour.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 3

22:15 , Oli Gent

A good combination as Warrington takes the initiative early in the third. He gets Wood on the ropes, but the home favourite does well to fight his way off. A good lead hook and body combination from Wood.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 2

22:11 , Oli Gent

Better from Warrington, who bloodies the nose of his opponent. Wood is aiming for the body early. Warrington is looking for those power shots, but he’s getting caught with the counters. There’s blood streaming out of the nose of Wood as well. A true battle already.

Wood vs Warrington: Round 1

22:07 , Oli Gent

The bell goes, and we’re underway. No feeling out process from either, with Wood looking to set Warrington onto the ropes early. Warrington is struggling to find the target, and is getting caught on the way in.

Tale of the tape!

21:59 , Oli Gent

Here comes Wood...

21:58 , Oli Gent

A huge roar from the partisan crowd for their home favourite, as ‘Mull of Kintyre’ breaks out over the stadium speakers!

It's time for the ring walks!

21:56 , Oli Gent

Here comes Warrington, to the tune of ‘Marching on together’... that’s not gone down well with this Nottingham crowd, but there is a chorus of Leeds fans in the arena.

Up next!

21:43 , Oli Gent

The main event follows...

Fawaz by decision!

21:38 , Oli Gent

Fawaz records a huge upset and takes the British and Commonwealth super-welterweight belts off Davis, with the majority decision victory!

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 12

21:34 , Oli Gent

Fawaz is showing real authority in these dying moments. More showboating - of course - and he is seconds away from a big upset. Davis is looking exhausted, empty. Fawaz gets him in the corner and begins to unload, but Davis manages to get his back off the post. Davis goes down as the bell goes, but no knockdown, says the referee! Who takes it?

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 11

21:30 , Oli Gent

Davis is bundled over in the penultimate round, but no knockdown says the referee. Fawaz is really piling on the pressure, going hunting for the champion, who looks out on his feet. Can Fawaz find that magic shot?

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 10

21:25 , Oli Gent

Fawaz is walking Davis down, changing the levels of the shots and the power. This is very good from the challenger, and he’s now ahead on punches landed. Davis is looking tired, but lands a nice left in the dying embers of the 10th. Might he be in trouble in these last two rounds?

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 9

21:21 , Oli Gent

Fawaz has woken up and is now putting up a good challenge. He’s still posturing and showboating, though, but there is more for him to shout about. Davis now in a scrap, and needs to up his tempo here.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 8

21:17 , Oli Gent

Davis is under a bit of pressure early in the eighth as Fawaz goes hunting, but what is he doing?! Some ridiculous showboating and gesturing to the crowd rather than following up with the champion on the ropes, and he’s almost stunned as Davis comes back at him!

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 7

21:14 , Oli Gent

The bell goes as Fawaz lets his hands go a bit more at the end, but it’s looking more and more comfortable for Davis, who seems to be cruising to a title defence.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 6

21:09 , Oli Gent

Davis has a chuckle as Fawaz dives in, but misses the target. The challenger is showboating, but just hasn’t shown the necessary aggression needed to get the better of the champion. The referee is having a word with Fawaz about holding and hitting on the back of the head.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 5

21:05 , Oli Gent

Davis is in control of everything, pushing forward as he pleases. Fawaz just has not let his hands go here, gesturing and posturing at his opponent, saying that his pressure isn’t fazing him. Meanwhile, Davis is comfortably up on the scorecards.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 4

21:01 , Oli Gent

A better round from Fawaz, who is bouncing in and out of range, looking to trade. Davis is responding well, boxing nicely off the back foot. Fawaz lands a good left hook but is slightly off-balance, meaning that he can’t land the combination, with the body shot from Davis getting through.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 3

20:57 , Oli Gent

Fawaz’s stillness has Davis able to pick his shots. Fawaz is walking him down, but not following up with throws. A smile from the champion as the bell goes. He’s in control here.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 2

20:53 , Oli Gent

Fawaz is dabbing his nose but is looking a bit hesitant on his way in. Davis is leading well with the jab, controlling the space behind the lead hand.

Davis vs Fawaz: Round 1

20:49 , Oli Gent

We’re underway. A huge clash. 12 rounds, and the crowd is making some noise now. Davis is trying to get his jab going, while Fawaz is keeping his distance, finding his range. Davis finds the face of Fawaz with the lead hand, and Fawaz responds with a right hand home. A cagey first.

Allen on his commitment to boxing

20:38 , Oli Gent

Up next! Davis vs Fawaz

20:32 , Oli Gent

This is a huge fight. Ishmael Davis taking on Bilal Fawaz for the British and Commonwealth light- middleweight title.

Allen by knockout!

20:12 , Oli Gent

What a performance! He has absolutely walloped Berredjem there, needing just one round.

Berredjem vs Allen: Round 1

20:11 , Oli Gent

Allen comes out swinging, and lands a heavy shot against Berredjem, which knocks him down immediately! He’s absolutely launching those overhand rights, and he floors him again! It’s all over this time!

Berredjem vs Allen up next!

20:07 , Oli Gent

Another heavyweight scrap now, as Allen looks to recover from a defeat by Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Also tonight!

20:05 , Oli Gent

Mario Barrios takes on the returning Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 10

19:55 , Oli Gent

Ryan has finally warmed up, but will it be enough to convince the judges after Zamora’s relentlessness from the early rounds? The Brit has countered well in these last couple of rounds. Ryan grits her teeth and steps in at close-range, looking for the body. Both slug it out in the last 10 seconds, but the bell goes. To the judges we go...

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 9

19:52 , Oli Gent

Penultimate round, as both women are out for the late stoppage. A lovely left hook from close-range, spinning round into centre-ring starts off the ninth well for Ryan. A close one to call. Final round to come.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 8

19:48 , Oli Gent

Ryan gets behind the jab and backs Zamora onto the ropes. She tries to rain down the shots, but the Mexican battles back into the centre of the ring. A right from the body finds the target from Ryan, and then she finds that right uppercut to follow up! Zamora shakes it off and comes back hunting, however, landing a right over the top.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 7

19:46 , Oli Gent

Zamora is really digging in with her body shots. Ryan is using her size a bit more now, pushing her smaller opponent back towards the ropes. Nice left hook from Ryan late on in the seventh catches Zamora, who replies with a big right of her own on the chin.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 6

19:42 , Oli Gent

Ryan walks into a right hook after a good left feint from the Mexican, who is switching up her stances on the way in. Ryan is doing better at keeping her distance, but is bruised up around the eye.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 5

19:40 , Oli Gent

Better from Ryan, moving in and out, now controlling with the jab and then stepping back. She’s looking for the uppercut as Zamora steps in, looking for the target in the midriff and upstairs.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 4

19:37 , Oli Gent

Zamora is continuing to step in and land upstairs and downstairs. Ryan isn’t stepping out of the way, and is finding herself in the midst of a storm from her Mexican opponent. Where is her jab as the bigger fighter?

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 3

19:34 , Oli Gent

The Mexican is really throwing the haymakers and landing combinations.

Blood is drawn as the pair trade in the centre of the ring, with good shots from both women.

Ryan is getting her nose dabbed at the sit-down.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 2

19:31 , Oli Gent

Ryan is showing good footwork, but is struggling to contain the volume of her opponent, who is really looking to pile on the pressure.

Ryan vs Zamora: Round 1

19:28 , Oli Gent

Zamora immediately rains down on the body of Ryan, looking to land heavy early. She’s lively early, with Ryan, the Derby native, not landing anything meaningful yet.

Ryan vs Zamora up next!

19:22 , Oli Gent

Time for the WBC women’s super-lightweight title scrap!

Eubank Jr reacts to shock Benn move in blow to Hearn

19:20 , Oli Gent

Conor Benn has shocked the boxing world by leaving Eddie Hearn's Matchroom to join Dana White at Zuffa Boxing.

Benn had been with Hearn's promotion throughout his professional career, including during a three-year absence from the ring in Britain due to drug-testing issues ahead of his initial fight with Chris Eubank Jr in 2022.

In a move which few saw coming, Benn becomes the second high-profile boxer, after IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia, to sign for the joint venture between the UFC magnate and Turki Alalshikh, who has been integral in Saudi Arabia's growing presence in the sport.

"I'm filled with excitement and hunger for what's ahead with Zuffa Boxing," Benn said. "I want the legacy fights, the biggest nights, the biggest stages. I fear no man at any weight, and I'm ready to give the fans the fights they've been calling for. I'm in my prime, and together we have bold, ambitious plans."

Wood vs Warrington 2 prediction

18:30 , Oli Gent

We’ve not seen either of these fighters in the ring in recent months, so it is difficult to know what shape both men will be in come fight day.

Wood has remarked during fight week that he “does not want an easy fight”.

The 37-year-old is 28-4 in his career, with 17 knockouts, while Warrington is 32-4.

That right hook from the southpaw stance in the first match-up’s seventh round proved the decisive punch last time out.

Warrington says he is confident he can avoid the repeat when the “fantastic” punch is thrown this time around.

"I can't see what Leigh's going to do differently," he said.

"I mourned my career a little bit then decided to continue because I felt I had more than enough to do some things in this sport.”

Wood to win by decision.
