'Wonderful' mum, 41, dies after hospital weight-loss operation ends in tragedy

A devastated husband has paid tribute to a "wonderful" mum-of-two who tragically died after undergoing a weight-loss operation.

Natasha Biddulph, 41, is believed to have suffered multi organ failure, sepsis and a chest infection following the op, an inquest heard.

The mum, of George Treglown Grove, in Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent died on Wednesday, June 15 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, StokeonTrent Live report.

The inquest heard a full hearing will take place later this year to examine whether the gastric bypass surgery ‘caused or contributed’ to her death.

Natasha's devastated family have since paid tribute to the "fantastic mother" who leaves behind two children, Lilyrose and Wyatt.

An inquest has been opened after Natasha died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital (BPM MEDIA)

Writing on a fundraising page created so they can say a "proper goodbye", David, Natasha's husband, wrote: "Natasha was a wonderful and caring person with a fun colourful personality and hair to match.

"Natasha was a fantastic mother to our children, she'd spend days and nights planning day trips and mini breaks for them, ensuring life was adventure for them with many fond memories. She had a wicked sense of humour and never afraid to let you know what she thought.

"Unfortunately on the 15th of June 2022 Natasha passed away leaving me Lilyrose and Wyatt behind. This in it self has been probably the worst experience I'll ever suffer not mentioning the children loosing their mum. It was a shock and tragic to loose her in the way we did."

Emma Serrano, area coroner for Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, told the court the inquest will resume in three months.

She said: “The inquest will look at whether gastric bypass surgery caused or contributed to the death. There’s reason to suspect it was unnatural.”

So far, the GoFundMe page has raised more than £1,500. Writing on the page, one friend said: "For my friend Tasha, how I miss you. Such a wonderful person cruelly taken to soon. sending love to David, Lilyrose & Wyatt. xxxxx."

Another said: "So sorry to hear this terrible news. Thinking of Natasha’s family and sending love x."

A third added: "God bless Tash sleep tight but gone way too soon."
