Manchester United's supporters waxed lyrical about youngster Alejandro Garnacho after he stepped off the bench to grab two assists in their 4-2 Carabao Cup third round win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.
Following a flat and forgettable first half, which saw the two sides go back into their respective dressing rooms at half-time with the scores level at 0-0, the game exploded after the restart. Villa twice took the lead either side of an Anthony Martial equaliser before Marcus Rashford bagged his eighth goal of the season to make it 2-2.
United, though, were 2-1 down when Garnacho stepped off the bench, and it was his entrance that played a key role in helping them turn the game on its head. He provided the assist for Bruno Fernandes to put the Reds 3-2 in front, pouncing on some slack Villa defending, before sending over a stunning cross for Scott McTominay to prod the ball home for the fourth in stoppage time.
