Well, what a night! Personally I prefer my football watching to involve a lot less maths, but it was very exciting even with all that adding and subtracting I had to do. And of course, everyone loves a penalty try – unless you’re a Dragons fan who is still scarred by the 1999 grand final. Which I totally am, but the excitement of tonight’s penalty try might be enough to erase that one from my memory.
More than anything though, this game showed the appetite from the fans and desire from the players for a three game series. Not to take anything away from Queensland and their deserving win, but it would have completely changed the game if both teams were simply playing for the win without the concern of aggregate scores playing on their minds.
However, that is a battle for another year now and we say goodbye to women’s Origin for the time being. Never fear though – the 10-team NRLW isn’t far away and women’s rugby league has never been in a more exciting place.
That’s enough from me for tonight – I hope you’ve enjoyed the madness and I will see you again for some more women’s rugby league very soon!
Our match report from Nick Tesdeschi is up now if you want to re-live all the excitement.
