That result followed a big 40-8 victory over Scotland in the last eight, on top of a 47-7 comeback win over Australia, a 69-7 thrashing of the United States at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and a 92-3 victory against Samoa at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton.
