Women permitted to wear trouser suits to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

Exact details about Queen Elizabeth II's funeral have been revealed - from the Order of Service to which of Her Majesty's favourite hymns will be sung. And like with many age-old traditions the royal family must follow, there are strict rules on what to wear for formal events including today's service.

However as dress code rules have emerged, it shows that women have been permitted to wear trouser suits. The protocol at royal events usually means women are required to wear some form of dress, but it is believed this is the first time a trouser suit has been an acceptable option not just for men.

Guidance on what to wear was issued to all attendees with an invite to the funeral of the longest-serving British monarch. Alongside trouser suits, there is the option to wear a day dress along with a choice of hat, while men have been encouraged to wear morning dress or lounge suits.
