Women nabbed in heroin bust

Anti-narcotics officers have arrested two women accused of helping international heroin smuggling operations following investigations linked to separate airport drug seizures.

The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), working with customs, narcotics police and military agencies under the Airport Interdiction Task Force (AITF), announced the arrests on Saturday.

In the first case, officers arrested a Thai woman in Thanyaburi district of Pathum Thani under a court warrant. Investigators alleged she supplied a backpack used to conceal 1.4kg of heroin seized from a South Korean courier at an airport in May before a flight to Hong Kong.

In the second case, officers arrested a Myanmar national in Lat Phrao district. She is accused of providing luggage used to hide 3.9kg of heroin discovered in May in the possession of an Australian suspect preparing to travel to Taiwan. Both women face charges of attempted heroin export and drug trafficking.
