There is a reason the second season of Apple TV's Mexican series Las Azules (Women in Blue) feels darker almost immediately.
The story still follows María, Ángeles, Valentina, and Gabina, the four women who entered Mexico City's police force in the early 1970s and spent much of the first season fighting to be treated as anything more than a publicity stunt. But the new mystery takes them into much more dangerous territory, one connected to the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre, the 1971 Halconazo, and the political violence that marked the period.
