Women escape serious injury after being 'struck by car' on Scots road as man charged

Two women had a lucky escape after being allegedly struck by a car towing a trailer in the Angus town of Forfar.

The pair were allegedly hit at the junction of Arbroath Road and Montrose Road in the town at around 11.15am on Monday January 17.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following the purported collision.

Paramedics who assessed the women said their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Locals say the junction was blocked off while officers investigated the circumstances of the incident. The road has since re-opened.

Police Scotland has confirmed a 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson said: "Around 11.15am on Monday January 17 2022, police received a report of two pedestrians having been allegedly struck by a car towing a trailer in Arbroath Road at the junction with Montrose Road, Forfar.

"The two female pedestrians were assessed by ambulance staff at the scene and their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged road traffic offence."
