A woman who works in McDonald's is distraught after losing her £500 engagement ring in a Nando's. Zoe Hughes, 21, had been 'super happy' after her boyfriend Billy Thorley, 23, proposed back in February.
The couple have been together for five years but Zoe lost the precious ring on a work social with colleagues earlier this month. She realised it was missing the following day and has had to buy a replacement, StokeonTrentLive reports.
Zoe, from Meir, a suburb of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, said the ring was lost at the Nando's in Hanley: "We went to York where he proposed to me. There’s a ghost shop in York and they sell handmade ghosts and he put the ring on one of those. I was really shocked but super happy about it.
“We went out with work for a Nando's at around 8.30pm. I had the ring on at the time. I took it off in the restaurant and realised it was missing after we had left. I took it off and it was lying on the table.
“The next day I went to put it back on but it wasn’t there - and that’s when I realised. I was pretty distraught.
“We called the restaurant and went there because we knew that was where we had lost it. But they said they hadn’t seen it.
“We are going to have to replace it now which is upsetting. The ring meant a lot to us, especially because it’s the one I chose and I really wanted.
“It was even more special because it’s the one he proposed with. My mum has put posts up on all the missing pages.”
