A hamster lover, who was left heartbroken when her furry friend died after a whopping three years and seven months, spent £3,500 to scatter his ashes abroad, detailing how emotional she was when it came to letting him go. But she's found happiness and fulfillment once more after getting a new travel-loving pet.
Lisa Murray-Lang, 46, took her Syrian hamster, Spud, to Hawaii in order to give him the send-off that she felt he deserved. She took him to Waikiki, Honolulu so they could finally visit the real beach together, as she'd previously made his cage into his "all-time favourite destination."
Appearing on Thursday's episode This Morning, Lisa flaunted her new pal Begbie to Holly and Phil, and Holly gushed that he was "putting on the best show" as he adorably cleaned himself whilst looking into the camera.
But she was also there to remember Spud, as images of his previous cage scenes flashed across the screen, including 'Hammywood', and Hogwarts, showing that he'd travelled the world during lockdown. She plans to do the same for her new friend.
Lisa then shared that seven-month-old Begbie was 'obsessed with Italy', and showed his cage, which she stated was just for the television appearance, acknowledging that it was small. It was decorated with the Italian flag, Rome's Colosseum, with a bowl of pasta for him to eat, and it even contained a cardboard cutout of Gino D'Acampo.
Holly asked: "Apart from the fact we've just seen him tucking into a bowl of pasta, how do you know that he loves Italy?"
Lisa then said that she just tried him with it, and from that point forward she couldn't stop him tucking into the tasty treat.
Holly kept remarking how "sweet" Begbie was, joking that there were similarities between his grey coat and Phil's hair.
When Begbie turned away from the camera as producers played Italian music, Phil asked what his personality was like, describing him as "a little bit shy."
"He is a little bit shy, but he's definitely coming round", Lisa shared. "He's completely different to Spud, but also quite similar in a lot of ways as well. So they are different personalities, but he is a real showman."
