Woman who spends £4 on weekly food shop says she 'doesn't shop like normal people'

A thrifty shopper has managed to cut her weekly shop by £50 with the use of a neat little food-sharing app.

Helen Morrison, 55, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, began cutting down her food costs and waster after she changed her job in November 2021 so she could have a better work-life balance after being a wedding planner. She made use of the free OLIO app and switched to community grocery stores.

Helen, who lives with her husband Darren, 56, also became a whizz in the kitchen, creating tasty-looking feasts with the free food she got from OLIO. Alongside cutting her food waste, Helen now only spends as little as £4 a week filling up her cupboard essentials.
