Woman who mounted pavement in luxury Mercedes and almost hit pedestrian faces jail

A woman who mounted a pavement in a Mercedes causing a pedestrian to leap out of the way could be jailed.

Jenna Oberg drove erratically, swerved onto the pavement and then collided with a traffic island, causing damage to barriers there, on Bo'ness Road, Grangemouth.

At Falkirk Sheriff Court Oberg, 30, admitted that she then drove off at excessive speed, swerved between lanes, and struck and damaged a quantity of traffic bollards before swerving onto a public footpath causing the pedestrian, named as Nicola Hutchison, to take evasive action to avoid being struck.

Oberg's Mercedes ML300 Sport CDI Blue-Cy A then collided with a fence.

The incident occurred in Bo'ness Road, Grangemouth on October 17th 2020.

Oberg, a first offender, of Grangemouth pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Sheriff Christopher Shead deferred sentence until March 25th for a social background report and a restriction of liberty order tagging suitability assessment.

The full details of the incident will be narrated at the sentencing hearing.

But Sheriff Shead warned: "This looks quite serious."
