A woman was left terrified after she started hearing voices, as well as a strange buzzing noise, and experienced frequent bouts of déjà vu. School counsellor Alison Wheatley, a grandmother-of-four, finally decided to see her GP after her mind began to go blank - and she sometimes lost the ability to speak.
Alison saw her doctor a number of times over two months when she was referred for an MRI scan at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
She was given the devastating news there was a mass growing on her brain. Alison, who lives in Seaton, Devon, said: “I was having these extraordinary sensations and my mind would go completely blank.
