Woman wearing leggings and man in puffer jacket sought after burglary at Stapleford café

A safe containing cash was taken from a café in Stapleford during a burglary.

The shop front window of The Little Kitchen on Derby Road was smashed during the break-in which happened at around 1.10am on Saturday (February 5).

Nottinghamshire Police cordoned off the scene and the shop manager was left stunned after turning up to work to see 'glass everywhere'.

Detectives are looking to speak to a man and a woman who were seen in the area around the time of the incident.

The woman was dressed all in black and wearing leggings, and the man is described around 6'2" and was wearing a green puffer jacket.

Inspector Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Our investigations are still ongoing to establish what happened and we would urge anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries to come forward straight away.

"Nobody should ever have their livelihoods put at risk by criminality which is why my team are committed to identifying the offenders and obtaining justice for the victims."

The shop manager took the bus in to work to find the café cordoned off, shattered glass spreading the surrounding area of the business, and police cars on the road.

Speaking at the time of the incident, the shop manager, who asked not to be named, said: "I was shocked - it is such a shame because Stapleford is such a good community.

"People asked me if I was all right and if there is anything they could do to help.

"We are a small business and we are just trying to make it through.

"It is the inconvenience and the costs that can really affect a small business.

"There was shattered glass everywhere - it is a mess."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 42 of February 5 2022.
