Woman told 'nothing to worry about' before aggressive cancer diagnosis at 28

A woman who was diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of breast cancer in her 20s, undergoing chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiotherapy within the space of 10 months, is now cancer-free and will soon be taking to the catwalk to “live her childhood dream”.

Anna Ramsey, 29, a PR manager, said she used to watch TV programmes like Britain’s Next Top Model “all the time” when she was younger and had dreams of one day walking on the catwalk – however, she did not think it would ever become a reality. At the age of 28, in January last year, Anna discovered a lump in her right breast, which was benign, but when she later felt another lump in her left breast, she then received the news that she had triple negative breast cancer, which was a “massive, massive shock”.

Anna underwent chemotherapy for five months, which resulted in her losing the majority of her hair and feeling extremely “fatigued”. She then had a double mastectomy in December – where both breasts are removed – and immediate implant reconstruction surgery, followed by radiotherapy.
