Woman takes out full-page advert to expose cheat and paper lets her have it free

A woman took out a full-page advert to expose her cheating partner to the entire world, and the paper has revealed that they let her have it for free. The woman scorned took out a large text-only advert to let the entire town know what Steve had done to her - and the ad was so successful it has gone viral around the world.

The advert reads: "Dear Steve. I hope you're happy with her. Now the whole town will know what a filthy cheater you are. From Jenny". Jenny signed off with the ad's final line: "P.S. I bought this ad using your credit card."

But owners of the paper have now revealed they in fact decided to allow Jenny to have the £1,200 advert free - which is some comfort to Steve, or at least his bank account.

The advert appeared in the Mackay and Whitsunday Life in Queensland, Australia on Friday, August 12., reports The Mirror. The editors said: "We do NOT know who Steve is, but apparently he's been very very bad.

"Jenny booked the ad through our newspaper's online portal and it was published in this Friday's edition. When payment for the ad was due to be processed it was noticed that the name on the credit card was different to the name on the booking so no payment was taken for the ad."

Many people have commended Jenny for her dramatic expose, with one Facebook commenter saying: "Not all heroines wear capes. Jenny is my new favourite person."

Another said: "Jenny sounds like someone I want to be friends with".

Others weren't as impressed with Jenny's mission to reveal her partner's mistakes, slamming the newspaper for going ahead with the premium placed advert. One said: "Disgusting that you guys even thought about printing this, shows no class at all on your behalf."

Adelaide's The Highway Hotel revealed a hilarious response to the saga on their roadside sign. In a show of solidarity with the mysterious woman, the sign reads: "Dear Jenny, I'm sorry. From all the Steves."

Mike McCann, sales manager for the Mackay & Whitsunday Life, went on the Australian TV show Weekend Today to urge the man to come forward and 'cover' Jenny's bill.

Mr McCann also denied claims that the ad was a 'PR stunt', and said staff thought the ad booking was 'just crazy' and the response was 'phenomenal'.
