Woman survives five days lost in Australian outback on single bottle of wine and sweets

A woman who was stranded in the Australian outback for five days has told of how she managed to survive through sipping a single bottle of wine and eating sweets.

Lillian Ip, 48, was considered lost by loved ones after April 30, having failed to check in, sparking a search party.

She had been travelling through deep bushland to Lake Dartmouth, when, 60km from the nearest town, her car became stuck. With no phone charger, she was unable to contact authorities for help, RTÉ reported.

Following a flyover by Victoria Police Air Wing, Lillian was spotted in the Mitta Mitta bushland last Thursday.

She had been able to walk fore help due to health issues, a sergeant said. She was taken to hospital for test, and to treat her dehydration.

During the five days in which she was stranded, Ms Ip penned a heartbreaking letter to family. The Daily Mail Australia reported that she wrote the letter on the fourth day after deciding that she wasn't going to make it home.

'If you don't find by this time I could be dead by frozen cold,' she wrote in the letter, Ms Ip told the Herald Sun.

"I love you all. Don't cry for me," it read.

Ms Ip, who was actually allergic to alcohol and only had it in her car as a gift she was bringing for her mother, was forced to drink it to survive in the heat of the Australian outback.

She survived on that, a pack of lollies and a juice box and made use of two blankets she had with her.

Ms Ip is now safe at home and has been banned from travelling on solo holidays anymore by her family, the Daily Mail Australia added.
