Woman slams boss for outfits she wears to work each day as it's 'inappropriate'

An employee has been left fuming after seeing her manager at work turn up each day in expensive clothes and 'flaunting' wealth during the current cost of living crisis. The anonymous worker took to the internet to explain that all the employees know the manager is on a six figure salary and are getting frustrated that she comes into work in 'inappropriate' expensive clothes.

To make matters worse, the unnamed woman claims the boss often makes unsympathetic comments about other people's financial situations.

Writing on the 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' forum on Mumsnet she explained: "Our department head is very young and glamorous and is fairly new to the company.

"We know her salary range as it was stated alongside the job advert (a six figure salary whilst the rest of the team are lucky to earn a quarter of that).

"Every day she swans in to the office like she’s dressed for the catwalk, different designer handbags (the very obvious types - think Gucci, LV etc), Rolex watch, Cartier bracelets, designer belts and shoes."

The employee went on to say that the team is overworked and underpaid so it is frustrating to see their boss come in with expensive handbags as it 'flaunts' her wealth.

They continued: "The recent financial climate means many of us are struggling to heat our homes, worrying about mortgage/rental price hikes and generally having to really cut back.

"We are all office based and this is something we talk about frequently in conversation, so she’s completely aware of this.

"She’s previously had the cheek to say that we are all feeling the pinch given the financial situation, which is an absolute insult when she rubs her wealth in our faces five days a week."

The employee was left asking how can the boss feel this is appropriate and whether they should go to HR.

However, in response the employee has not earned a lot of support, with many branding their upset 'ridiculous'.

One person wrote: "You want to complain to HR because someone who earns more than you can afford things that you cannot?"

While another person wrote: "Is she dressing in accordance with the uniform policy/dress code for the workplace? If so, then I'm not sure what the actual issue is."

A third wrote: "Dragging her down isn't going to raise you up any higher so why bother? It smacks of petty jealousy."
