While wedding preparation is undeniably stressful, it's all part of the process in the lead-up to the special day. Arguably, arranging the intricate details with your partner is one of the most wholesome parts of the prep.
Taking an alternative approach, a woman has claimed that she's planned her wedding day without even telling her husband they're getting married. After spotting the perfect wedding dress in store, she took it upon herself to continue with the rest of the plans.
While her wedding date is just two months away, the bride-to-be sought advice on popular forum Mumsnet, questioning how she can break the news to her partner.
Captioning the post, she wrote: "Help me reveal secret wedding plans to fiancé!"
The woman explained: "So, we have two young children, been engaged five years. He has dropped the odd hint.
"About a month ago I found 'the dress' and thought I may as well continue with the plans.
"It's a smallish affair at a country house with 28 family and friends.
"It's all planned for Easter Saturday, everyone knows apart from the groom!
"I have to get him to sign the marriage notice forms so plan to tell him on Valentines Day."
Seeing advice from Mumsnet users, she questioned: "Any bright ideas on a fun way of breaking the news?"
Since posting, the woman's thread has raked in over 100 comments to date - while some believe the partner will be ecstatic, others claimed that they 'hate' the idea.
"You can't be serious!" One person claimed.
A second wrote: "I would not be amused if this was done to me, railroading him to a wedding, I don't see this going well."
"I would absolutely hate this," a third agreed.
On the other hand, a different user wrote: "My husband would have been ecstatic if I had done this. Wedding prep was so stressful for him and he went along with whatever I wanted anyway!"
Meanwhile, someone else found middle ground: "This is a gamble. I'm going to hope you know him well enough to know he'd like this. Perhaps a valentines card to your husband... Then tell him what you've planned."
