For some people, Christmas tree decorations are serious business. Many festive fans have gold or silver themes, some like tinsel while others hate it, and some families just love random decorations that don't match.
But one woman from the US has an entire tree dedicated to ugly ornaments that she has collected through the years, and she has delighted the internet by sharing some of them.
The woman, whose name is Gina, has uploaded a video on her TikTok account @3drinkgina, showing off some of the 'disturbing' ornaments and why she likes them.
In a video liked by over 234k people, Gina explained: "Every year my sisters and I have an ugly ornament competition. The rules are, it has to be store-bought, it's supposed to be $5-10, but we all broke that rule, and whoever purchases what is determined to be the most disturbing ornament is the winner."
She added: "So I'm going to show you some of the beauties I've gotten in this contest, because I have an entire tree dedicated to just these ornaments."
Gina went on to show off a selection of intriguing ornaments on the Christmas tree, including a bearded, topless mermaid Jesus.
Next, Gina grabs an ornament showing a person with a crown, pink hair, a dress, and clown painting, with a sash that says Miss City Dump on the front, and Princess of Mirth on the back. She says: "Okay look, Miss City Dump has been through it, but she's the Princess of Mirth. She's going to be okay. Someone gave this the green light, someone designed this and said 'yes, let's mass produce this'."
The woman then shows off what looks like a yeti, which is a mythical ape-like creature, or Big Foot. She says: "Look at this sassy Sasquatch. He is just ready. Look at that a**. Just ready to go out on the town. Do your thing girl."
Lastly, Gina says: "It is not Christmas until I have hung up my zombie gingerbread," while showing a gingerbread with blood pooling out its half-eaten head and missing leg, where it also has a broken bone sticking out.
TikTok users were delighted by Gina's collection, with one person saying: "Zombie gingerbread is my favourite."
Another revealed: "Miss City Dump is from a tv show from Seattle. All us boomers grew up with The JP Patches show."
Some commenters were keen to hear more about the rules of the competition, with one person asking: "Love this, but I have questions. Do you keep the ones you bought? Does the winner get them all? Is there a prize? Who picks the winner? I must do this!"
Gina replied: "Everyone brings a wrapped ornament. In the order from oldest to youngest, everyone picks one and unwraps it to show. A judge who didn’t participate decides which one is the ugliest.
"Everyone brings a silly gift for a giant gift bag and the person who brought the ugliest ornament get to go home with the gift bag of all the goodies, and everyone goes home with a new ugly ornament."
