A woman was left "shocked" when she found out one of her household appliances was costing nearly £550 a year to run. Melinda Gaunt says she is "relieved" to have cut back on her energy bills after discovering how ineffective the appliance was.
The 64 year old had no idea how much the humidifier in her basement was costing her until she looked for ways to cut down her bills. Melinda and her husband Dave, 73, found a post on Facebook warning about how costly dehumidifiers are.
The Mirror reports the couple wanted to find out exactly how much the appliance was costing them. They invested in a smart plug that measures the energy consumption of each appliance.
