Woman shocked by price of Primark trousers as price hike sees £50 bill

One TikTok user has gone viral after ranting about the price she paid for two pairs of trousers in Primark as many agree the cost of living crisis has 'gone too far'.

Primark is a high street staple store known for its cheap clothing and alternative dupes making it the ideal place to shop for bargains.

As more people are looking to cost cut this winter, shoppers will be turning to budget friendly shops to get what they need, reports the Mirror.

However, one shopper Lily - known as @lileviex on TikTok - shared a video of her baffled reaction after finding out the price of two pairs of trousers in the shop.

Prices have increased almost everywhere as a result of the cost of living crisis, including Primark, as Lily exclaimed her disbelief after paying nearly £50 for two pairs of parachute trousers in black and cream.

In the clip, she said: "I'm sorry since when did Primark become so expensive? Kid you not, I walk in and see these trousers right, parachute pants, Urban Outfitters who?"

Speaking to the camera, Lily admits she didn't check the price tag before getting to the till, as she didn't expect the trousers to retail for such a high price. However, she soon got a shock when the cashier asked for almost £50.

She continued by saying: "Tell me why when I get to the till he says £44 please. I'm pretty sure back in 2015 those would have been about a fiver each. This cost of living crisis man, it is just going too far."

Many shoppers were quick to agree that the cost of living crisis is impacting prices everywhere, as even 'cheap' shops have upped their prices recently in attempt to pad the blow.

One person commented: "I know right, they are getting so cheeky." Another agreed and noted: "Even their pyjamas have gone up to £20."

However, not everyone offered her their sympathies over the price hike. One user replied: "I'm sorry... but who are these fortunate people who don't need to think about checking the price on a label before getting to the till.."

Another said: "Am I the only person who thinks that's really good?? 22 per pants not bad."

A third agreed: "Hon, sorry to break it to you but they increased prices since they reopened after covid. Everything went up and sale is not what it used to be."
