There are plenty of household chores that fill us with dread, but when it comes to cleaning the bathroom, bringing your shower up gleaming can be a daunting task. Not only are cleaning buffs obsessed with finding the perfect way to wash glass shower doors sans streaks, or scrubbing taps so they come up sparkling, the shower head itself can prove to be tricky as a build up of limescale can impact the way your water runs.
If you've noticed that your water pressure seems a lot weaker recently, or that it's spraying in all sorts of random directions when you turn it on, chances are it's time to clean your shower head. One woman has revealed an unusual hack to easily remove the pesky limescale and other dirt that builds up around the appliance, and the results are 'gross' but satisfying.

Taking to TikTok to reveal her findings, one woman spotted a shower cleaning trick using a plastic bag and some white vinegar and simply had to try it herself.
Kirsten, who posts under the username @ creepykiki, responded to a video of another man trying the trick with her own experiment, where she grabbed a plastic sandwich bag as filled to the brim with some white vinegar and attached the bag to the shower faucet.
In the original video, the man shows all the tiny particles of dirt and limescale floating around the bag, proving just how much hard water build-up there was on his shower head.
Hoping for similar results, Kirsten filmed herself attaching the bag to her shower with what appears to be a bandana, securing it tight so the vinegar could get to work on the limescale build-up. She then left the bag on her shower overnight and revealed the results come morning.

The cleaning-savvy TikToker then posted a follow-up video revealing the results, after keeping the bag on for 'about 12 hours'. She then shakes the bag to reveal numerous particles in the liquid, all while shouting 'eww!' at the amount of limescale left behind.
"Oh my god, what is that?" she says, before adding "this is so freaking gross".
Kirsten's water was noticeably clearer that the original poster's, who had huge chunks of dirt floating around the bag. In the caption to her second video, she says: "thank goodness it wasn’t that gross! Idk if I could shower again if it were".
The hack is very cheap to try yourself too, as you can get a 20-pack of sandwich bags for £1.65 at Tesco, and a 568ml bottle of white vinegar for 38p. If you used half the bottle of vinegar to fill the bag, and just one of the bags per hack, it would cost around 17p to do.
On her original clip, which has more than 6 million views on the app, hundreds of people flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts on the cleaning hack.
One person wrote: "Do you people not clean your stuff on a regular basis?".
While another shared their success with the hack, saying: "I did this a while ago , I was planning on replacing it, thought I have nothing to lose. Worked amazingly, never replaced it".
Others pointed out a potential downside to the cleaning tip, as one TikTok user wrote: "Vinegar will also strip the chrome from the metal".
