Woman seriously hurt after being 'hit by taxi' in Didsbury

A woman was seriously hurt after being 'hit by a taxi' in Didsbury. Police were called to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car on Wilmslow Road near the junction with Parrs Wood Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

The Manchester Evening News previously reported that an eyewitness at the scene said the woman was hit by a taxi. On Thursday a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said she was taken to hospital from the scene with head injuries.

Now Greater Manchester Police have said the woman was seriously injured but her condition was not life threatening. No arrests have been made, the force said.

A spokesperson said: "On Thursday 13 April 2023 at around 4:40pm, officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Wilmslow Road in Manchester.

"Emergency services attended the scene and woman was taken to hospital with serious but not believed to be life threatening injuries. No arrests were made the scene."

In a statement released previously, an NWAS spokesperson said: "We were called to an RTC at 4.38pm last night on Wilmslow Road. We dispatched an ambulance with two rapid response vehicles to the scene who treated a female with head injuries and transported them to Manchester Royal infirmary."
