A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after allegedly being hit by a car in Glasgow last night.
The female pedestrian was allegedly struck at around 7.50pm on Prospecthill Road in the Toryglen area of the city.
It took place on the section of road outside St Brigid’s Catholic Church near the junction with Glenmore Avenue.
Emergency crews raced to the scene and the woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Medical staff have described the woman’s condition as life-threatening.
The 39-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence following the incident.
He has been released pending further investigation.
A photo taken at the scene shows a blue-lit police car guarding the road which was cordoned off.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of Road Policing Unit Glasgow, said: "This incident happened in a very busy area, so we know there will have been a number of people around who witnessed the crash.
"We are currently trying to establish exactly what happened here and I would ask anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch.
"In particular, I would ask anyone with dash cam devices to check their footage as it could hold images which could prove to be significant in our enquiries.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3085 of Sunday, 6 March 2022."
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 7.55pm on Sunday, 6 March, officers were called to a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Prospecthill Road, Glasgow.
"The 52-year-old female pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
"A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and was released pending further enquiries.”
