A woman had to be rescued from a car after a two-vehicle crash on Castle Street in Merthyr Tydfil. Emergency services attended the scene at around 12.45pm on Wednesday and fire crews had to extricate one driver from a vehicle.
The collision involved a Nissan Qashqai and a Ford Kuga and both female drivers were treated for their injuries, which were described as neither life-threatening nor life-changing. The vehicles were recovered and the road cleared around 2.30pm.
The Welsh Ambulance Service sent out a Cymru High Acuity Response Unit (CHARU) paramedic and two emergency ambulances, which were joined by fire crews from Merthyr Tydfil Fire Station.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "At 12.45pm today, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision which happened on Castle Street, Merthyr Tydfil and involved a Nissan Qashqai and a Ford Kuga.
"Paramedics attended the scene and the two female drivers were treated for their injuries which are described as neither life-threatening nor life-changing. The damaged vehicles were recovered and the roads cleared shortly after 2.30pm. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation."
A statement from the Welsh Ambulance said: "We were called at 12.47pm to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Castle Street in Merthyr Tydfil. We sent a Cymru High Acuity Response Unit (CHARU) Paramedic and two emergency ambulances to the scene."
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 12.45pm on Wednesday 28 June 2023, we received reports of a road traffic collision on Castle Street, Merthyr Tydfil. Crews from Merthyr Tydfil Fire Station were in attendance alongside emergency service colleagues.
"One casualty self-extricated prior and another casualty was extricated using hydraulic cutting equipment and casualties left with the ambulance service. A stop message was received at approximately 1:41pm."
