Woman pulled from water after reportedly falling unconscious at Barry Island

Onlookers have described seeing a woman pulled from the sea at Barry Island after coastguards were alerted to her reportedly falling unconscious in the water on Sunday. Multiple vehicles from the Welsh Ambulance Service were in attendance as well as coastguards from the RNLI and officers from South Wales Police.

The condition of the woman is currently unknown after she reportedly fell unconscious almost directly opposite Marco’s café shortly before 5.30pm. One onlooker said: “A lady was passed out in the water, they pulled her out and up the beach and she’s been transferred into an ambulance.

“There are several coastguard cars here, one large ambulance, four paramedic cars and I saw an air ambulance crew as well. We were walking along the promenade with the children and saw the emergency services pull up and then they started running across the beach with the RNLI.”
