Woman praises £7 Aldi face cream that is 'dupe' of £439 luxury moisturiser

The cost-of-living crisis is sweeping through the nation and has hiked up prices across a range of expenses.

Not only is fuel and energy more costly, reports of rising food prices have left shoppers feeling "scared" for the future. As a result, consumers are looking for any way they can save money, including on their favourite brands.

Shoppers are downshifting on their grocery favourites. swapping brand names for supermarket basics. Now, My London reporter Alexandra Bullard has decided to do the same with beauty products, by purchasing cheaper "dupes" that look and smell like their expensive counterparts.

Her latest discovery is a £7 face cream for sale in budget supermarket Aldi, which she states beauty bloggers have praised on social media. Aldi's Caviar Illumination anti-age day cream is sold in 50ml batches and is a budget version of luxury brand La Prairie's indulgent lifting and firming face cream, which costs a staggering £439 for the same amount.

The hefty price tag is in thanks to its 'natural caviar extract' which raises questions as to how Aldi can release a similar cream that is so much cheaper. If your interests are peaked, read below to find out what Alexandra thought of the budget cosmetic.

'I feel like a celebrity'

Aldi's moisturiser costs just £7 (My London)

Upon inspection, Aldi's cream has clearly been inspired by La Prairie as both products look remarkably similar. The product shape and distinctive silver lids are bang-on identical, along with the word 'caviar' popping up on both.

I suspect you're wondering what Aldi's cream looks like. Though I must stress this is purely a price comparison, I did not have the La Prairie product to compare it with.

Aldi's cream has a pure white colour, which is supposedly different from La Prairie and its light yellow shade according to beauty bloggers. This didn't bother me as Aldi's smell was very luxurious and light.

Applying some to my skin, you really don't need much as a little goes a long way. I'm over the moon as this means the product will last a long time and I've not even paid a tenner for it.

So if you want to save up on buying your family Christmas presents this year, I highly recommend downshifting your beauty products and heading to your nearest Aldi store for this wonder product. It's the crème de la crème.

But if you prefer the big brand, it might be worth waiting for the Black Friday or Boxing Day sales before you get your hands on La Prairie's Caviar cream.

Aldi's day cream can be bought here online.
