A disappointed passenger on a Jet2 plane has shared an image of a sorry-looking sandwich she was served on a flight to Marbella in Spain. In a TikTok post, the woman contrasted an image of how the sandwich should have looked on the menu with the meagre one she was given, asking Jet2 for an explanation.
While she would have expected a generously-filled sandwich, she got one which was far more bread than filling, dominated by lettuce. What was worse, the passenger said she hadn't eaten in five hours due to queues at check-in and security and was left hungry.
Posting images on TikTok, user teganinsleyox also wrote that she had to stuff crisps in the sandwich. She explained on her account: "We hadn’t eaten in 5 hours due to the check in / security queues, so ended up shoving a tube of Pringles in the bread because we were so hungry."
The post was titled 'Jet2 did us dirty with the food on the plane' followed by three laughing emojis. It has since been viewed more than two million times.
Jet2 spokesperson told BirminghamLive: "We're proud to deliver an award-winning experience from the moment people start their holidays with us, including our in-flight food and drinks. Our in-flight meals consistently receive great feedback from customers, we’d like to apologise to the customer for any inconvenience caused on this isolated occasion. We will look into this with our supplier."
The hungry woman was inundated with sympathy for her in-flight meal disappointment, with TikTok user GCM writing under the post: "I can relate to this. Ordered a stunning looking cheese and onion toastie. A microwaved stinky soggy sandwich arrived that was hard around the edges."
Sasha wrote: "You know believe it or not Ryanair food is decent, I’d be embarrassed serving that." User blueandyellowclownfish wrote: "My dad ordered a similar sandwich and it had one massive lettuce leaf and a single cherry tomato."
Jet2 was also defended, with one user writing: "They can’t get it right all the time. Still the best airline about atm in terms of queue time, flight take off time etc"
