Woman mortified to learn her name is wrong after parents made birth certificate blunder

When you've been referred to as something your whole life, learning that the moniker isn't your actual name must be pretty shocking - especially when you're old enough to realise what's happened.

That's exactly what happened to Gabby Mayor, as she claims to have learned that her parents had made an error on her birth certificate, meaning Gabrielle wasn't her actual given name.

Gabby, who posts on TikTok as @gabbbbb16, captioned her video with a simple eye roll emoji, as she told of the birth certificate blunder her parents made, which meant that her actual legal name was in fact Babrielle, rather than Gabrielle, leaving some social media users in stitches.

Over the video of her looking sullen, she'd written: "Thinking about how my parents made a typo on my birth certificate and I didn't find out until age 15 that my real name is actually Babrielle."

In the comments, people were shocked, but many were joking about it.

"Sorry bout it Babs", someone commented.

"My mum misspelled my name, I was actually supposed to be Sonya not Sanya", another admitted.

Someone else had a similar experience, writing: "My mum told me for like 12 years my name was spelled lilianna but on my birth certificate it's liliana", followed by a crying emoji.

"My nephew is supposed to be named Cameron BUT his birth certificate says Carmon", a woman shared.

A TikToker said they had no idea how errors were made on legal documents, commenting: "I don't understand how this happens. When we signed my daughter's birth certificate they had us check and make sure everything was correct like three times."

Someone shared a similar, but different birth certificate drama, writing: "My parents didn't notice my brother's birth certificate had the wrong birthday till he was like six. Way too late to fix it so now he has two birthdays."
