Woman mortified as mistake she made while sleeping results in facial fake tan fail

As anyone who's ever applied their own fake tan will know, the solution can be an absolute nightmare to work with sometimes - especially as you can never quite work out when enough is enough.

And as one woman on TikTok has discovered, fake tan can also pose a problem while you sleep, as the movements you make in the middle of the night can leave you with patchy results where the tan has rubbed off onto your bedsheets, or worse, other parts of your body.

The woman named Grace, who is from the UK, shared a video over the weekend in which she said she had been attempting to put some fake tan on her face to give herself some contour - but she woke up the next morning to find she had been sleeping with her face pressed against her arm, leaving her with a patch of fake tan right in the middle of her cheek.

In the clip, Grace - who posts under the username @gkbarry - said: "Guys, I tried to fake tan my face and give it a bit of contour.

"Oh no, I slept on my f***ing arm. Brilliant. My hand's orange as well, look at what I've done to that."

To make matters even worse, Grace also revealed her graduation is this week - meaning she'll have to style out her fake tan disaster for the professional photographs.

Commenters on the TikTok video were sympathetic to Grace's plight, but many of them couldn't resist having a little chuckle at her misfortune at the same time.

One person said: "You don't ever fail to make me laugh."

While another added: "I'm laughing but it's not funny."

"Girl, you're my spirit animal, thank you for existing", a third wrote.

But others were actually keen to offer Grace some helpful advice, as they came to the rescue with tips on removing fake tan from any unwanted areas.

Someone said: "Use micellar water on a cotton pad! I promise it works wonders."

As someone else agreed, writing: "Micellar water or coconut oil with some granulated sugar works wonders for the hands and the cheek patch!"

While another noted: "Combine water and baking soda into a paste! It helps fade it, especially on the hands. Best of luck!"

And a fourth suggested: "Vanilla essence gets it off."
