Woman 'looks so much like Kylie Minogue' she made it her job

A woman has made a career out of impersonating Kylie Minogue due to her physical similarities to the Australian pop star.

Jodie Doody, 40, has been impersonating the princess of pop for two years.

The entertainer was first told she resembled the Australian singer in her late teens - but she didn't consider it as a career move until recently.

However, in recent years she decided to put a shower together after again being told she looks like the Can't Get You Out Of My Head singer.

Jodie told the ECHO: "I was hesitant to become a tribute to her as her voice is so distinctive and so very different to my own.

“I didn’t think I could emulate that to the standard needed to be successful. Finally I made the decision to put a show together, starting with studying the hits.

“I soon realised that the back catalogue of Kylie's hits was huge and was going to take some serious learning.

“The more I studied the more I fell in love with everything about her. I’ve always been a fan but I found that I was truly inspired by her songs, her style and everything else that makes her the beautiful person she is.”

Jodie toured with the ‘National Youth Music Theatre’ productions as a main vocal part chosen by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webbe (Jodie Doody)

Jodie has been performing since the age of four and even attended the iconic Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.

Her career spans more than 30 years and includes TV adverts, modelling for brand names such as Radox, Harrods and Jeep as well as playing the role of Nancy in a theatre production of ‘Oliver.’

Wanting to do something new, Jodie, who is originally from Kent, decided to entertain crowds with her ‘On A Night Like This’ Kylie Minogue tribute show.

Despite only performing as Kylie for a short time, Jodie says the show has already been described as 'like watching Kylie herself' and ‘authentic Kylie’ by die-hard fans.

She added: “I have only been performing as Kylie for two years and I can’t believe the things I’ve done already.

“The fantastic thing is that I’m getting paid to pay tribute to someone I love, it really doesn’t get better.

“In my show I can promise you the Kylie look with replica iconic costumes, Kylie choreography either as a solo or with gorgeous male dancers, as Kylie is always on stage with amazing male dancers, and the Kylie sound.”

Jodie will be performing at the Masquerade Bar, Cumberland Street, on Friday 18 February and again on Saturday 30 April.
