Woman kept £25,000 accidentally put into her bank by man trying to buy motorhome

A woman kept £25,000 that had accidentally been put into her bank, moving it to a savings account and refusing to give it back. Catherine Thomas, 59, of Porthcawl, refused to repay money which had accidentally been sent to her account by Mark Morgan, who was trying to send the money to a man selling him a motorhome.

Because she moved the money to a different account her bank was able to recover just £307. She spent the money on paying off debts as well as holidays, clothes, and home refurbishments for her four children and 12 grandchildren, reports WalesOnline.

Mr Morgan lost his job and home after was unable to pay back his employers who had given him the money to buy a motorhome. A court heard Mr Morgan had agreed to buy a motorhome for £32,000. He paid a £2,500 deposit and a further £5,000 before travelling to Leeds to conclude the sale.
