A woman living in North Carolina expressed feeling traumatized by the impact of Hurricane Helene, which brought heavy rain and flooding to the Southeast after making landfall on Thursday night. The woman, identified as a 20-year-old resident named Avery Dull, shared her harrowing experience of witnessing the effects of the storm.
Dull described the unprecedented nature of the disaster, stating that in her two decades of living in North Carolina, she had never encountered such extreme conditions. She emphasized the lack of preparedness among herself and her neighbors for the magnitude of the storm's impact.
Fortunately, Dull mentioned that her apartment, located on the second floor, remained safe from the flooding. However, she expressed deep concern for her community, noting that many of her neighbors were severely affected by the disaster.
According to Dull, approximately half of her neighborhood was submerged underwater, leading to numerous families being trapped inside their homes. The flooding was so severe that cars were completely submerged and destroyed, while power outages affected the entire county.
The aftermath of Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction in its wake, causing widespread devastation and displacing many residents in the region. The community now faces the daunting task of recovery and rebuilding in the wake of this natural disaster.
