Woman in hospital after being struck by lorry on busy Scots street

A woman is in hospital after being struck by a lorry on a busy Scots street.

Emergency services raced to King Street in Aberdeen after receiving reports of the incident at 11.40am today. Medics attended the scene and rushed the 59-year-old to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Her current condition is unknown. Images from the scene show ambulance crews in attendance while a police cordon was erected this afternoon.

Officers have launchd an investigation into the incident and have asked for any witnesses to come forward. In particular, they want to hear from those with dash-cam footage.

Inspector Scott Deans of North East Road Policing said: “A woman was injured on a busy street in the middle of the day and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident. I would ask anyone with any information to come forward and would appeal to any motorists who may have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we encourage anyone with information to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1241 of 10 August."
