Three men have been arrested after a woman in her 60s was rushed to hospital following a 'fight' between two groups in the Village. Officers were called out to Canal Street at 3.20am this morning (February 4) following reports of an altercation.
Greater Manchester Police says three men, aged between 27 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and assault. The woman remains in hospital for treatment.
A cordon was in place on part of Canal Street for several hours this morning. Police had taped off a section of the street between Sackville Street and Abingdon Street.

A number of police cars and vans were in attendance, while crime scene investigators were also called out to gather evidence. The cordon was lifted shortly after 10am.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 3.20am on Saturday, February 4, to a report of an altercation on Canal Street in Manchester city centre. Officers attended and it was established an altercation between two groups of people had taken place.
"A woman in her 60’s suffered injuries during the incident. She remains in hospital for treatment but is expected to make a full recovery.
"Three men between the ages of 27 and 32 have been arrested on suspicion of affray and Section 18 assault and remain in custody for questioning."
