A woman in her 40s has been arrested in connection with the death of two siblings in a car fire in Co Westmeath on Friday, September 9.
Thelma Dennany, five, and her two-year-old brother Michael died in the horror blaze at Lacken near Multyfarnham in Co Westmeath.
Michael was pronounced dead at the scene while Thelma lost her life in the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, Co Offaly. They were laid to rest last week in St Mel’s Cathedral in Longford.

Gardai confirmed the woman had been arrested in connection with the investigation this afternoon.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of 2 year old infant and 5 year old girl in a fatal car fire at Lacken, Multyfarnham, County Westmeath on Friday, 9th September, 2022, have arrested a female in her 40s. She is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the midlands. An Garda Síochána will be making no further comment at this time."
