A young woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a horror fall from a balcony at a nightclub.
The woman, who is aged in her 20s, was said by police to be in a 'critical' condition. She was rushed to hospital from Hey Amigos nightclub in Southport, Merseyside, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police confirmed emergency services were called to the club on West Street at around 2.55am.
One person at the club told the Liverpool Echo the nightclub was emptied at around 3am after the incident and that they believed the woman fell from a balcony in a smoking area of the venue.
Police confirmed they were 'not looking for anyone else' in connection with the incident.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports over concern for safety at around 2.55am after a woman fell from a balcony.
"A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital where she is in a critical condition. Officers remain at the scene and we're not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident."
Hey Amigos declined to comment.
The woman hasn't been named and no further details have been revealed.
