Woman identified after body pulled from River Tay

The body of a woman who was pulled from the River Tay on Valentines' Day has been identified.

Police Scotland confirmed the 37-year-old victim's family has been notified.

Officers confirmed she is from the Dundee area.

In an earlier statement they confirmed the grim discovery is not linked to the disappearance of Lynn McPaul who vanished from the Perth Road three weeks ago.

A Police Scotland spokesman said the death is not being treated as suspicious and confirmed a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

They added: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body recovered from the water near Tay Street in Newport-on-Tay, on Monday, 14 February, has been identified as a 37-year-old woman from the Dundee area.

"Her family has been made aware and our thoughts are with them at this time.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
