Woman horrified as cake she paid £240 for looks nothing like what she ordered

A woman has been left in tears after ordering a $300 (£239) cake, only for it to arrive appearing like it had been made by an infant. Taking to TikTok to describe her grief at paying a 'fortune' for a 'mess', user Libby Carlsonn explained how she ordered the four-tier cake from a highly-rated local bakery in her area and expected it to come as she had asked.

Libby says she was expecting a chocolate ganache cake, elegantly finished with cocoa decorations. However, she has been left out of pocket and still missing a decent cake.

Libby, from America, said: "Guys I paid $300 for this and the lady just dropped it off - what do I actually do?" In response, one TikToker called Cara replied: "When you say dropped it off, did she literally drop it?"

To which another account joked said: "She dropped it off...the roof of her car...going 90mph" and while another added "like did she throw it at your front door then scoop it up?"

After being handed the cake on her doorstep, Libby, 18, claims she was too shocked to do anything else apart from accept it. And, though it looks like sloppy sponge, is actually structurally sound.

Liberty used the post to appeal to users for help - and TikTokers were more than happy to share their advice. One account called Jke wrote: "Call your non emergency line and ask how you could get a refund."

Another, called T, provided reassurance, saying: "Put it in the fridge probably just melted a bit", though it would need to go through a rather thorough transformation in there for it to work.

Liberty didn't include the name of her local bakery responsible for the cake, but users urged her to immediately ask for a refund. There has been doubt, however, about her claims, with some suggesting no self respecting baker would ever make something 'as bad as that'.
