A 92-year-old woman has died five months after a car ploughed through the wall of her bungalow as she slept.
Great-grandmother Edna Kerns was in bed when Michael Vose's BMW X6 smashed into her one-story, brick-built property in Bolton, Greater Manchester, last November.
She was rushed to hospital at 5.15am on November 28 last year with serious injuries.
She was discharged earlier this year, but was readmitted and tragically died on Friday, April 8, at the Royal Bolton Hospital, her heartbroken family said.
Her granddaughter Lesley Lister has paid tribute to her in an emotional social media post, describing her grandma as a “very special lady” who was a fighter “until the very end”.
“Her presence is already greatly missed by all the family,” she said.
“It’s left a huge hole in our hearts.”
Ms Lister said the impact of the crash was so severe that the internal walls of her grandmother’s house collapsed on her while she was in bed.
Mrs Kerns was inside the property when the motor careered through a metal fence and rammed into the rear wall at 5.15am on November 28 last year.
Vose, 39, of St Helens, Merseyside, was arrested after being spotted wandering in the middle of the road among traffic.
He faces jail after he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing criminal damage.
He also admitted criminal damage to the property and causing actual bodily harm to another person.
He will be sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on May 3.
