A woman has worn the same £20 dress from Boohoo on every single night out for five years. But despite being a serial outfit repeater, she has been praised by Love Island stars.
Amy Bates purchased the £20 dress from Boohoo almost six years ago and still loves the way it looks. The dress is black velvet number with a V-neck and long sleeves - and fashionista Amy says it fits like a glove.
She's worn it on virtually every night out since 2017 and believes people should be proud of being outfit repeaters. Self-employed baker Amy, 27, said: “It’s just ‘the one. All my friends know it."

“If we’re planning a night out, they’re like ‘what are you going to wear? Will you be wearing the black velvet dress?’ And I’m like ‘yeah, I actually am’.”
Sustainable warrior Amy’s hair has changed colour more times than she has chosen a new night out outfit. Throughout the years, she has rocked blonde, pink and brunette hair with the dress - and further accessories it with different colour heels and bags.
Amy, who is from Birmingham added: “I think sometimes people forget that washing machine’s exist. So, you can actually wash your outfits and wear them again. And I think people should be proud of being outfit repeaters. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a few photos on your Instagram feed where you’re wearing the same thing."
She continued: "I think there’s a lot of pressure these days to constantly be wearing something new or having different pictures on your Instagram."
Amy posted a TikTok of her wearing the dress on nights out throughout the years, which has attracted almost 150,000 views and 16,000 likes. It even captured the attention of Love Islander Georgia Townend, who praised Amy.
Georgia quipped: “Gorgeous! We love a sustainable queen.” Other sustainable fashion lovers flocked to the comments to share their glee with Amy’s dress choice.
Lauren Kelly joked: “The fact it’s survived that long is impressive. It’s gorgeous on you. I don’t think there’s any dress I’ve ever loved enough to keep that long though.”
Others said the dress was ‘made for Amy’ and said they’d wear it that much too if it was their dress.
